The Law AND Grace and Truth

The Law AND or BUT grace and truth came by Jesus Christ?
Hey! Wait a minute; this sentence correctly uses the coordinating conjunction. This is what we have been taught isn’t it? That . . .

Grace is in opposition to the Law,
Grace supersedes the Law.
Grace makes the Law useless.

Well, there appears to be one HUGE problem: the “BUT” isn’t in the Greek texts at all! The “BUT” was added by the King James translators “for clarity.” That’s why the “BUT” is in italicsWithout the “BUT” the meaning of the verse is rendered completely opposite.

Based on the correct Greek above, John 1:17 should read as follows:

For the Law was given by Moses, AND (kai) grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
